Florim USA participated in the first ever industry-wide “Material Ingredient Transparency” study, sponsored by the Tile Council of North America (TCNA) for porcelain and ceramic tile. The TCNA “is recognized for its leadership role in facilitating the development of North American and international industry quality standards to benefit tile consumers.” The study provides a transparent view into materials utilized in the manufacturing process, and health assessments tied to those materials.
The study and our participation are in line with Florim USA’s overall commitment to environmental sustainability, and we were honored to aid the TCNA’s research. In total there were 17 manufacturers who participated in the GreenScreen Assessments®. These assessments are the benchmark references for the study and were performed in order to review material usage to determine how tile can contribute “to green and healthy building optimization credits”. These credits in turn help to contribute to LEED, WELL, and Living Building Challenge certifications.
Florim USA was pleased to take part in advancing product ingredient transparency and disclosure. As a partner of the TCNA, we look forward to continued support for research on this and other related subjects.
